Dubai has long been renowned for its amazing architecture, continuously pushing the boundaries of engineering to create iconic structures that redefine skylines.
From the Palm Jumeirah to the Burj Khalifa and The Frame, each masterpiece adds to the city’s reputation for groundbreaking designs. And now, joining this impressive roster is One Za’abeel, home to the world’s longest cantilevered building, known as “The Link.”
The Link is a remarkable feat of engineering that connects two buildings situated on either side of a bustling six-lane freeway, serving as a magnificent entrance to the heart of Dubai.
The sheer challenge faced by Nikken Sekkei, the Japanese architectural, engineering, and urban design firm behind the project, was immense. To achieve the stunning cantilevered design, the building needed to stretch across the busy freeway, hovering 100 meters in the air, while weighing an astounding 8,500 tonnes – equivalent to the weight of the Eiffel Tower.
The development offers high-end business, residential, retail and entertainment spaces that are close to the financial district and World Trade Centre, the project symbolises a new gateway to the heart of Dubai.
One Za’abeel includes offices, 263 luxury residential units, a retail podium, 493 luxury hotel rooms, and serviced apartments. It also has iconic retail experiences offering a range of high-end retail and leisure experiences.
The link will be home to the luxury hotel One and Only, which will open in December 2023. It will feature Michelin-star restaurants, a destination bar, and a spectacular rooftop infinity pool, enveloped by 360-degree views of Dubai’s shimmering skyline.
