Project Focus

Problems Continue for Snowy 2.0

video preview

The Snowy 2.0 project in Australia, initially touted as a $2 billion “nation-building” venture, is mired in challenges and cost overruns, with a new estimate of $12 billion.

Workers faced safety breaches, including exposure to toxic gas, while the tunnel-boring machine, Florence, struggled to progress due to soft ground and missing equipment.

Despite these delays, Snowy Hydro insists the project will get back on track, though experts predict ongoing challenges in unstable ground conditions may lead to further issues and uncertainty in achieving the revised cost and power generation targets.

The Line – Status Update

Saudi Arabia’s ambitious megaproject, The Line, aims to create a self-sustaining linear city over 100 kilometres, featuring zero cars, roads, and emissions.

Recent progress includes substantial excavation work, piling for the main structure, and advancements in the dedicated underground rail system known as The Spine.
